Insurance — Property & Casualty...

If you do your own research on stocks, probably you'll come along reading Citgroup PortfolioStrategist, weekly, so the report said on February 22 that insurers are releasing reserves from recent “hard market” years at a faster pace than in previous cycles and focus on insurers that were able to maximize premium growth during the hard market years of 2003-05.

GOOG!

After very solid, but not spectacular fourth quarterresults, and decline in GOOG shares, Google continues to take share in online advertising and with high levels of value creationremains a good buying opportunity with target price $600?

Stock Research/Technical

Japanese Candlestick Signals can be very helpful in making decisions to buy or sell certain stock, whether day trading , swing trading or long term investing. It's a way to understanding the investor psychology that formed the signals that allows an investor to clearly understand what makes prices move.

China !

Mainland China’s primary stockmarkets more than doubled in valuel ast year, fueled by a burst of cash from newly affluent Chinese investors, continued robust economic growth, buoyant exports, a flurry of gigantic IPOs, and increased dual listings of stocks on both foreign and local exchanges. Indeed, the ShanghaiComposite index skyrocketed 130%last year. The financial sector in particular which includes China Life Insurance (LFC, 45), now one of the world’s largest insurers. Some Chinese stocks to consider:

China Mobile/CHL
Cnooc/CEO
Focus Media/FMCN
Huaneng Power /HNP
KongZhong/KONG

As usual, there is one question: Have Chinese equities risen too far too fast? Maybe it's a momentum only, in the long run I see it much higher!

What is a mFOLIO ?

An mFOLIO is a Marketocracy managed model portfolio that closely mirrors model portfolios managed by members at Marketocracy that have been selected as mFOLIO Masters and that Marketocracy Capital Management LLC (MCM) offers as products to clients of MCM's mFOLIO Managed Account Program on FOLIOfn's Advisor trading platform.
There are currently five mFOLIOs for our launch:
ist.martin's Optimal Risk Return (ORR) crossy's Industry Analysis Fund (CIAF) crees' Ten Stocks (10STX) athompson's TPSNX Fund (TPSNX) Ken Kam's Best ideas Fund (BIP)
Except for Ken's BIP they all have superior track records over five years, have demonstrated more of a generalist approach than a specialist approach and are somewhat different.
Future mFOLIOs do not have to meet the exact same criteria. mFOLIOs are essentially products for clients to invest in and building blocks for advisors or investors to build their own team around their own investing strengths. We may decide to form teams around a specific area, e.g., a tech team or a S&P 500 team.

The fourth quarter...

Albeit a rough start, the fourth quarter delivered respectable profit gains. More than 80% of the companies int he S&P 500 have reported fourth quarter2006 operating results. I'm somewhat sector oriented, so noted that notable upside surprises came from the consumer discretionary, materials, and industrials sectors. The biggest disappointments were seen in energy, health care, andinformation technology. Despite, could have been a lot worse. Fot those following Buffett’s six investment criteria: AMTD apeals to me a lot, as for company’s strong market share in the financial advisor arena and its efforts to attract long-term investors. I hold AMTD stock in my ASFIN fund, inception return 35.13%, days held 1246.

Outlook !

Sector: MATERIALS, Due to a slowdown in the auto sector, higher imports, and excessive inventories at distributors and original equipment manufacturers, are going to put a pressure on steel price. The aluminum picture is brightening, with prices ticking higher after lagging the metals cycle overt he past four years. Much higher copper prices should boost revenues and earnings for the diversified metals and mining group. I expect for gold miners to post strong gains in sales and profits, primarily reflecting the higher average spot price for gold. As for chemicals, the group will be hurt by a slowdown in the housing market and customer inventory reductions. Two picks to consider: Alcoa and Alcan. My ASMAT(Materials) Fund top holdings:

Note: You can ask your questions in Italian
language, too.

Thoughts!

It's true, one could be an amateur investor, but having one profession too. This very moment I remember end of December period some thirty years ago, sailing from Oakland, Ca bound to China, cargo ship vessel loaded with cargo of cotton in bales, crossing North Pacific, where you don't know you are "in the eye of the storm" or out, you face the risks in every way immaginable. Such a picture is very much different from one I show with my earlier post. But, all that, has something to do with stock markets, investing, Wall Street ? Yes, both have the risk in common, so fine tune your decisions, learn, practice and build your experience, think twice!

Outlook

Sector:FINANCIALS For U.S. regional banks, I expect earnings growth rates will slow to 6.6% in the fourth quarter of 2006 from 7.4% in the third quarter, because of the inverted yield curve. The fourth quarteris going to be difficult for the regional banks and thrifts due to the yield environment. I believe that loan growth will offset net interest margin pressure, as competition for loans remained fierce. This caused many thrifts and banks to moderate loan growth while waiting for more favorable funding conditions. Those with investment banking activities should fare the best.To expect property-casualty insurers to post significantly improved fourth-quarter operating earnings (9% to 12% in many cases) in the absence of any significant catastrophe claims, favorable contributions from investmentincome, and the positive effect of share buybacks.

I'm looking to reduce XLF holding in my ASFIN Fund.
